Brick City’s Cabot Gallery will highlight the artwork of Springfield-area students with two exhibitions closing out the spring semester. Both exhibitions are collaborations between area schools and the Department of Art + Design, featuring the work of young artists and the guidance of art educators.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program
On view now – April 20
Coordinated by Central High School’s art teachers, The International Baccalaureate Diploma Program exhibition features the work of students in the college preparatory program. Artwork in the exhibition emphasizes the personal, individual creative processes of students and the importance placed on the exploratory nature of art making through the International Baccalaureate Program.
Students of Students
On view April 28 – May 12 and open for First Friday Art Walk May 5
Pre-service art teachers conclude their time student teaching with the biennial Students of Students exhibition. The exhibition celebrates the hard work of pre-service art educators and the creative work of their students. After a semester of teaching area intermediate or high school students, the pre-service teachers are given the opportunity to select works by their students to include in the exhibition. In addition to featuring the work of their students, teachers are also asked to exhibit their own artwork that demonstrates their highest achievement in studio practices. Community members as well as students, parents, teachers, and administrators from area schools are invited to view the exhibition.
The Cabot Gallery is located in Brick City Building 3 at 215 West Mill Street, Springfield, Missouri, 65806. The gallery can be visited Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Call 417-837-2330 for additional details.
