The third annual Juried Exhibition for High School Art + Design Students is now on view, showcasing the artistic strengths and creative potential of high school students across the Midwest region. The virtual exhibition is hosted by Missouri State’s Department of Art + Design as a way to recognize the work of high school students and provide students a platform to share their work through a college venue.

This year’s entries were juried by Instructor Megan Frauenhoffer, Associate Professor Colby Jennings, and Assistant Professor Jina Seo. From over 400 artwork submissions, jurors chose three top-prize winners, selected Merit Award honorees, and also recognized entries with a group of Honorable Mention awards.
Winning entries for first, second, and third place receive award certificates and scholarship prizes that can be applied toward tuition in the Missouri State Department of Art + Design. Scholarship awards range from $1,500-$5,000 thanks to generous donations to the Department of Art + Design. This year, Mary Boehm of Glendale High School was awarded first place, Jackson Politte of Kirkwood High School was awarded second place, and Will Brown of Lee’s Summit West High School was awarded third place in the exhibition.
Students interested in entering next year’s juried exhibition can submit entries beginning October 2, 2023. The entry deadline is October 27, 2023, and the 2024 exhibition opens June 3, 2024. For the full exhibition prospectus and details on how to enter, email Department Head Vonda Yarberry at vondayarberry@missouristate.edu.
