Homecoming is right around the corner and I hope you are as excited as I am. Like most major universities homecoming is a huge deal here at Missouri State and a lot of work goes in to making the week one of the most spirited weeks of the year. I personally have served on the homecoming committee for the past two year, and I can honestly say it is one of my favorite times of year. Homecoming Week is jam-packed with exciting events offering your students the opportunity to get involved and get excited about being a Missouri State Bear.
Here’s the schedule of events for the week:
On Sunday, October 11th, we decorate Downtown, window paint at the Plaster Student Union and Chalk’n’Rock.
On Monday, October 12th, we focus on philanthropy by holding our annual Can We Build It: Canned Food Construction competition. The canned food will be donated to Ozark Food Harvest.
Tuesday we hold our exciting Rockstar singing competition. This is always a favorite and it’s great to see how much talent we have here at MSU.
Wednesday is my personal favorite, the “Maroon and White Night” Chili Cook Off. Student organizations compete to see who has the best chili recipe. There is also a concert, outdoor games and inflatable for students to enjoy.
The Pep-Rally and “Yell Like Hell” Stomp and Cheer competition will take place on Thursday.
Friday is Field Day, student organizations will compete in both physical and mental challenges.
Saturday is the day we’ve all been waiting for…Bearfest Village Tailgate and Football game. This year we will be playing the Illinois State University Redbirds. This will be an exciting game and we would love to have you all here to help us cheer on our Missouri State University Bears.
