This is a very timely question. Usually right around the first of November is the first time students can access the scholarship application process. The scholarship application is until March 1, 2017. All students access the system in the same way – through his/her My.Missouristate Portal.
Your student should go to My.Missouristate.edu and log-in using his/her BearPass and password. This is the same way your student checks his/her grades or e-mail. Once logged in, your student will look along the top tab and select Profile. Then your student will see a series of blue boxes called “Channels.” Your student will look for the Financial Aid Channel – usually on the top left-hand side.
Find the General and Departmental Scholarship Application Link. Once your student selects this link, he/she will be automatically be logged into the system. Your student doesn’t have to remember a separate username or password – the scholarship system will recognize him/her from My.Missouristate.edu, create an account for your student, and log your student in. This is how your student will log-in every time.
By filling out this application, your student applies for nearly 1,000 scholarships. The average is about 1 in 4 students that applies receives a scholarship. Each scholarship is different, but the average works out to be about $1000. NOTE: Pay attention to application deadlines which vary depending on the application.
Note: the FAFSA will need to be completed by the Missouri State priority date of February 1, 2017.
