To kick off our new “Bear Family Spotlight” series, meet the Orr family from Farmington, Missouri! Katie is a freshman that has definitely gotten involved here on campus! She is in the Women’s Choir, Gospel Choir, and Centennial Leaders. She is supported by her brother Chris, mom Mendy, and dad Steve.

As a family, their favorite things to do in Springfield are going downtown to check out new restaurants and see a show at Landers Theatre! Before Katie started college, they wished that they knew that the restaurants on campus do not accept gift cards.

They support Katie by checking in often and offering to get groceries, and we know students never turn down groceries! A piece of advice the Orr family wants to share with other families sending their first child to college is to start purchasing dorm items early, so it isn’t such a huge shock all at once!

The next tradition their family is going to complete together is to get their family picture in front of the PSU Bear! Thanks to the Orr family for sharing!
