The Fairs App for web and mobile
The Fairs App will help you prepare for the Career Expo/ Education Career Fair on February 28, 2018.

Missouri State University’s Career Expo / Education Career Fair is February 28, 12:00 – 3:30 pm, at the Springfield EXPO Center. At the career fair, you can meet more than 200 representatives from companies, school districts, non-profit organizations, government agencies, and graduate programs located both here in Springfield and across the country.

Talking to future employers or grad school representatives can be a daunting task, especially at an event this large. But The Fairs App has you covered. Using The Fairs App, you can—

  • view the event schedule
  • use an interactive booth map
  • stay up-to-date with announcements and updates
  • view preparation tools
  • read profiles of participants and link to their websites

Using the app

Fairs App Announcements
The Fairs App will keep users up-to-date with announcements and preparation tips.

You can access The Fairs App in two different ways: via the web and via your smartphone or tablet. This FREE app is available for both iOS and Android. Both versions have options that can be accessed on the left-hand side of the webpage or in the top-left drop down of the mobile app:

  • announcements
  • schedule
  • prep
  • employers
  • map

Let’s dive into what each tab does.

Announcements

This page provides updates to the event, resources to help you prepare for the career fair and information on career fair preparation workshops. At these workshops, you’ll learn about what employers expect, how to talk to them, what to wear while attending, and what materials to bring with you.

Schedule

The Careers App Filters
Four filter options enable users to focus their search.

This page shows the event schedule for employers and for students on the day of the event.

Prep

This page includes tools provided by the Career Center like the “elevator pitch” and a quick reference guide for how to make the most of your experience before, during, and after the fair.

Employers

This page is where you’ll find our list of over 200 participants. Here you have search navigation “Search employers by name” and then the option to use filters for searching. Filters work one of four ways:

  • industry
  • location of job/internship
  • major
  • position type

You can filter by one category at a time. Remember to check the employers who are looking for ALL MAJORS also.

Save specific participants to your Favs so you can access their information quickly and easily.

You can also “favorite” a university or employer if their posting especially interests you. On the right-hand side of your search results, just click the star next to their name.

Career Expo / Education Career Fair 2018 is fast approaching! Do you need some help with getting your résumé ready? Walk-in hours at the Career Center for this semester are 12:00 – 4:45 pm. No appointment is necessary. Come to one of our career fair preparation workshops or watch a video of the workshop. Remember that you can also schedule an appointment with one of our Career Resources Specialists to discuss your career planning and job searching.
