Student speakers present to Missouri Herpetological Association

Nine student speakers recognized in the field of biology

Students from the department of biology gave presentations alongside Missouri State faculty at the Missouri Herpetological Association meeting in Jefferson City. Presentations are listed next to the names of student speakers and accompanying faculty:

  • Travis Anthony with Dr. Daren Riedle and Dr. Day Ligon: “Reintroduction of a Long-Lived species: The Alligator Snapping Turtle”
  • Benjamin Dalton with Dr. Alicia Mathis and Adam Crane: “Sexual Discrimination and Parasitic Effects in a Territorial Salamander, ‘Plethodon Angusticlavius’ ”
  • Travis Reeder with Mathis and Crane: “A Behavioral Syndrome in the Southern Redback Salamander (Plethodon Serratus)”
  •  Courtney Heuring and Whitney Heuring with Mathis and Crane: “Aggressive and foraging Behavior of Larval Salamanders (Ambystoma Annulatum): Effects of Diet Quality”
  • Emilee Helton with Mathis and Crane: “Metabolic Differences Among Clutches of Larval Spotted Salamanders (Ambystoma Maculatum)”
  • Denis M. Thompson with Ligon and Brian Fillmore: “Direct and Remote Methods of Assessing Turtle Nesting Behavior”
  • Ethan Hollender and Travis Anthony with Ligon: “The Effects of Recreational Boat Traffic on Injury Rates in Freshwater Turtles in Northeastern Oklahoma”
