Nixa native Evan Bergmann is one of the 2,880 students who will graduate this month at Missouri State University. But he has set himself apart: He was recently awarded the Neil Stueck Outstanding Senior Award from the Academy of Civil Engineers.

Bergmann, whose civil engineering degree is in partnership with Missouri University of Science and Technology, was one of three students selected to win this distinctive award at the organization’s 50th celebration in April. And he was the only student selected from the Springfield program.

“Evan has been an excellent student in our civil engineering program,” said Dr. Doug Carroll, director of MSU’s cooperative engineering program. “I’m confident he will be a successful civil engineer.”

Following graduation, Bergmann will join the water systems team at Great River Engineering.

In the future, he aims to gain licensure as a professional engineer.
