The cicadas are coming, but the June bugs are already here

Missouri State biologist weighs in on the summer pests.

Much is being written about the impending cicada swarm this summer. Though their name would indicate otherwise, the June bugs are already here.

While June bugs can wreak havoc in lawns and gardens, they don’t pose any threats to humans. It might be a little difficult to get the critter off your skin if it sticks to you, but that’s because of its tiny claws, which can produce a ticklish effect.

USA Today published a comprehensive round up of professors who spoke to Good Housekeeping, including Missouri State University Assistant Professor of Biology Dr. Avery Russell.
