I’m honored and excited to join the Missouri State University family. The College of Natural and Applied Sciences (CNAS) has an impressive foundation, and during my first days on campus, I’ve been inspired by the enthusiasm, kindness and dedication of the students, faculty and staff I have had the pleasure of meeting.
One of the things I enjoy most is walking across the campus. I have a personal goal of walking at least 10,000 steps each day, and it has become the perfect way to explore our beautiful campus, visit CNAS departments and facilities, and meet people where they work, teach and learn. Every conversation has helped me better appreciate the strengths of our college and the many exciting opportunities that lie ahead.
I’ve always believed that listening comes before leading. During these first weeks, my goal is simply to learn — to hear about your achievements, your aspirations and your ideas for the future of CNAS.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading about new discoveries in science and technology, particularly in the natural sciences, mathematics, scientific computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Curiosity has always been one of my greatest motivations, and I feel fortunate that my professional work and personal interests complement one another so naturally.
Thank you for the warm welcome you’ve already extended to me. I’m excited to become part of this wonderful community and look forward to working together with our students, faculty and staff as we continue building on the college’s many strengths.
Warm regards,
Dr. Magdalena Toda
