CNAS was recognized at the Ozarks Science and Engineering Fair for our 20 year commitment to science fair. Thank you to all faculty and staff who work so hard for the fair!!!!
Denise Thompson (Biology) was the recipient of the MSU Distinguished Teaching Assistant Award and came in 2nd place in the regional MAGS competition. She wrote an excellent proposal and was awarded a Sigma Xi Grant-In-Aid of Research to support her thesis work. She has conducted outstanding research that she has presented at six local, regional and national meetings, and an award for Best Oral Student Presentation at the Kansas Herpetological Society meeting in 2011. Her service to the Biology Department has been excellent, and she greatly revitalized the Ozark Biological Graduate Society (OBGS) during her tenure as President. Very recently, Denise was accepted into an excellent doctoral program at Oklahoma State University (my alma mater). She will be joining Dr. Ron Van Den Bussche’s Conservation Genetics lab, for which teaching under Laszlo Kovacs was excellent training.
