- Thursday, July 27 – Faculty & Student Seminar: Statistics & Linear Algebra, Cheek 301, 12:30-1:30 PM (see attached flyer)
What: Green Dot Overview training next week – August 1 and 2 – Tuesday’s session is for anyone who missed the training last summer. Wednesday is a refresher for anyone who attended last summer.

Length: 60 minutes (sessions will be done by 9 AM)
Learning Objectives:
- Participants will understand key components of the Green Dot strategy.
- Participants will understand the dynamics of culture change.
- Participants will feel empowered and equipped to be a part of meaningful culture change on campus as it pertains to domestic/dating violence sexual violence and stalking.
- Participants will have the knowledge and tools they need to contribute to positive norms pertaining to power-based violence.
- Participants will have the knowledge and tools they need to support students and colleagues in making positive contributions to campus safety.

Did you know…?
- At the end of August Nick Gerasimchuk’s lab is hosting visiting researcher Lauri Kivijarvi from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland for a full academic year.
- The Computer Science Department has open the Multimedia Systems and Communications (MuSyC) Laboratory in Cheek 213A. The lab will focus on research towards developing new ideas and technology. Check out the developing MuSyC webpage.
- The Tri-State Water Conference is October 19-20, 2017. http://noncredit.missouristate.edu/waterconference.htm
- The college has reached a major milestone since its inception as well as some other anniversaries:
1968 (50 years next year) – school separated into four and we became: Division of Science & Technology
1972 (45 years this year) – division renamed: School of Science & Technology
1985 (32 years this year) – school renamed: College of Science & Mathematics
1994 (23 years this year) – renamed: College of Natural & Applied Sciences (2019 will be 25 years)

Orientation for new graduate students is Aug 14 (flyer attached) and the mandatory orientation for new Teaching Assistants is Aug 15. RSVP for either/both at http://graduate.missouristate.edu/currentstudents/Register.htm (The Graduate College uses several means to let new grad students know, but many new grad students provided their undergrad institution’s email during application, but no longer use that one. If our faculty have other ways of contacting them, it would be helpful if they passed on information, too.)
