Master Advisor Workshops: Mon-Tue, August 12-13, 2019
Space is still available! The Advising Basics workshop is optional (Monday, August 12 at 8:30-11:30) and covers general education requirements, preparing for, conducting, and documenting advising sessions, and other information that advisors need when they are new to advising or new to MSU. The Master Advisor Workshop (Monday, August 12 at 1:00-5:00 and Tuesday, August 13 at 8:00-5:00) covers campus resource referrals, ethics and advising, FERPA and confidentiality of student records, developing positive and appropriate advising relationships, advising students from diverse backgrounds, core competencies for academic advisors, and more. Participants earn the “Master Advisor” designation, receive a framed certificate, and those who qualify become eligible for “Excellence in Advising” awards.
Registration is available on the Academic Advisement Center website until Tuesday, August 6. The first link on the left is for use by current full-time faculty and staff. The second link on the left is for graduate students, part-time employees and guests.
