The 675.2 lbs of food collected!

Event Highlight: Halloween Food Drive with SDA

November 3, 2021 by Kayla R. Kaminski

On October 31st, Missouri State’s Student Dietetic Association hosted a Food Drive to collect food for the Bear Pantry. 29 volunteers got together, and went trick-or-treating around neighborhoods in Springfield to collect non-perishable food items. By the end of the night, 675.2 lbs of food were collected. Some examples of the items that were donated were canned vegetables, ramen, pasta, peanut butter, cereal, granola bars, canned proteins, and so much more. The members of SDA plan to gather all the food items together and create Thanksgiving boxes to give out to members of the Bear Pantry. The event was a huge success and gave us so many ideas for events to plan in the future! With how rapid the Pantry is growing, food drives like this are much needed.
