Please be advised that City Utilities of Springfield is continuing work to replace the water main that runs along Holland Avenue. They plan to perform the following work from September 8 through September 15:
- The new water main is in place and pressure testing is complete. Disinfection of the water main is expected to begin on the morning of September 8. During this process there will be 1-3 City Utilities trucks parked at various locations along Holland Avenue as City Utilities crews fill the water main with disinfectant and flush water out of the main. Water will be discharged onto Holland Avenue near Grand Street and near Cherry Street at various times during this process.
- Following the above process, very little visible activity will occur while the disinfectant works. Starting Thursday, September 14, crews will begin flushing the water main. Once again, water will be discharged onto Holland Avenue near Grand Street and near Cherry Street at various times as the piping is flushed.
Note that the above schedule is approximate. Weather, unforeseen conditions, or other than expected results of the disinfection may require the work schedule to revised.
Updated information regarding the Holland Avenue water main renewal project will be posted weekly as the project progresses.
