Beginning October 15th, construction fencing will be installed around portions of McDonald Arena in preparation for the McDonald Renovation project. The project is expected to continue through fall 2027.
As part of the construction activities, the pedestrian sidewalk along Kings Ave will be closed to pedestrians from Madison St to Forsythe beginning October 15. Construction fencing will also be installed between McDonald Arena and Freudenberger and will remain in place for the duration of the project. Pedestrians should use the walkways between Freddy and the Student Union or John Q. Hammons Parkway as alternate routes.
The north entrances to McDonald Arena will be closed during construction. A temporary ramp has been installed at the front entrance of McDonald Arena to provide access to the first floor. The elevator will be closed to the public during construction.
Access to the Daily Citizen through Kings Ave will remain open. The east entrances to Forsythe and Kings Street Annex will be closed. Signage will be provided to direct pedestrians to available entrances and alternate routes.
See attached map for all information related to the closure. Closure Map
Additional closures will occur later in the project as construction progresses, including work associated with the tunnel extension and plaza. Additional information will be provided as those activities are scheduled. We appreciate your patience.
