Help Conserve Energy Over Winter Break

Before you leave for your winter break, please take a few minutes to complete some actions to help reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.

Turn Down the Heat – If you have a thermostat available, set it back to 55 degrees and make sure your fan settings are “off”.

Pull the Plug – To avoid “phantom loads” on power strips, computers, monitors, printers, faxes, copy machines, coffee makers, tea kettles, microwaves, appliances, task lighting, phone charges, etc. please make sure to unplug them from the outlet.

Turn Off – Turn off what you can’t unplug and shut off the lights if you are the last one out the door.

Close and Lock – Close and lock all doors and windows.
