MSU Parking Permits Go Virtual for 2026-2027

July 1, 2026 by Lisa Elsworth

The 2026–2027 parking permit purchase or renewal period is officially open!

This year brings one of the biggest changes to Missouri State University parking in years: parking permits are now fully virtual!

No More Parking Stickers

Beginning with the 2026–2027 permit year, physical parking decals have been eliminated. Instead, your license plate will serve as your parking permit.

There are a few important things to keep in mind:

  • Continue displaying your current parking sticker until August 1, 2026.
  • New virtual permits become active automatically on August 1st —there’s nothing to pick up or wait for in the mail.
  • Double-check that your vehicle information is accurate in the Parking Portal (under the Parking and Transportation card in the portal), especially your license plate. Missouri license plates use the number 0 (zero), not the letter O, and plate numbers should be entered without spaces or dashes.

Renewal Permits

Parking permit renewals are available beginning July 1, 2026. Renewing during July 2026 will ensure uninterrupted parking access for the new permit year that starts on August 1, 2026.

Employees with Presidential, Emeritus, or Founders permits will continue to receive their permits through their respective departments. Those employees should use the separate vehicle information update link provided by Email.

Not Renewing? Don’t Forget This Step

For full-time employees paying through payroll deduction, permit charges do not stop automatically when a permit expires.

If you do not plan to purchase a permit for the upcoming year, you must notify the Parking Office by Email to stop your payroll deduction. Since permits are now virtual, there is no physical permit to return.

How to Renew

Most annual permits—including Yellow, Blue, and Orange Remote permits—can be renewed through the Parking Portal.

Some permit types require direct assistance from the Parking Office, including:

  • Silver permits
  • Purple (Service Vehicle) permits
  • Yellow Overnight permits
  • Yellow Per Course Faculty permits

If your permit option does not appear in the Parking Portal, contact the Parking Office for assistance.

Updated Permit Rates

Monthly payroll deduction rates for full-time employees are:

  • Yellow Permit: $12.75 per month
  • Silver, Blue, and Blue Residence Life: $20.00 per month
  • Orange Remote: $7.08 per month

Part-time employee permits continue to be charged as annual flat rates through the employee’s MyMissouriState university account.

Save Your Confirmation Email

After renewing online, you’ll receive a confirmation email from noreply@t2systems.com containing a PDF version of your permit.

Although permits are virtual, it’s a good idea to save or print this PDF. During special campus events, gate attendants may not have access to license plate readers, and the PDF can be used to verify your parking authorization.

Need Help?

The Parking Office is preparing a Virtual Permit FAQ on our website to help answer common questions. If you experience issues with the Parking Portal or have questions about purchasing a permit or renewal, contact Parking–Transportation Services by phone, Email, or visit our office during regular business hours:
