Award-winning actor, comedian and New York Times bestselling author Rainn Wilson will bring his unique blend of humor, storytelling and insight on human connection to Missouri State University, as the Public Affairs Conference 2026 keynote speaker.

The presentation will take place at 7 p.m. Sept. 29 at Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. The keynote event kicks off the conference, scheduled Sept. 29-Oct. 1.

The conference theme, “The We Factor: Building Connections That Matter,” explores the role relationships and community play in creating meaningful lives, making Wilson a natural fit for this year’s event.

Best known for his portrayal of Dwight Schrute on NBC’s “The Office,” Wilson has built a career that extends beyond entertainment. As co-founder of media company SoulPancake and author of several books, Wilson has spent years exploring how people seek connection, hope, truth, identity and purpose.

His work aligns closely with the conference’s focus on connection and community. Through storytelling and humor, Wilson challenges audiences to engage more deeply with one another and the world around them.

Wilson is one of several speakers in the conference who exemplifies the theme. Author, storyteller and community advocate Ethan Bryan will share his experience of teaching character values and leadership skills to students through playing catch. Pete Davis, Alex Los and David C. Smith will join Wilson and Bryan, sharing their unique perspectives that explore human connection.
