Missouri State University demonstrated its commitment to community engagement June 13 as staff and faculty participated in the United Way of the Ozarks’ Day of Caring.
Leading up to the big day, faculty and staff donated needed supplies for the Child Advocacy Center. Contributions for the Red Cross also were collected, and volunteers assembled more than 50 comfort kits for children who have experienced a disaster.
Another group dedicated their time to enhancing the WaterWise Garden. Tasks included mulching, weeding, revitalizing a gazebo and a garden shed with fresh coat of paint.
A third group volunteered at the Discover Center. They weeded, mulched and trimmed bushes outside. Others helped organize the holiday closet and prepared lunch for Discovery Center campers and Day of Caring volunteers.
A big thank you to all Bears who came out and put the university’s public affairs mission into action. Your collective efforts left a positive impact on our local community.
The 2024 United Way campaign will run Aug. 26 through Oct. 4. Stay tuned for further details on how you can get involved and continue making a meaningful difference in our community.
