This year we will be returning to New Orleans, Louisiana for the fourth year. The week will be filled with opportunities for learning, serving and understanding new perspectives involving ongoing issues. These issues, surrounding community revitalization and culture in this population, have been neglected over the years. We are returning in hopes to advocate for the affected population and apply this knowledge here in Springfield and beyond. We will be revisiting sights that were destroyed by Katrina in 2005 and learning about the history of New Orleans. By joining with Habitat for Humanity, a national organization designed to create affordable housing, we will help build a home for those still suffering from the effects of flooding, even eleven years later.
