I am the only person in the group with a disability. That’s why my experience on the trip is different from the others. Some activities are more accessible for me, some are less. For example, I really enjoyed playing with children in the play room of the hospital.
However, I was not able to draw. Instead of this, I could only talk to children. Sometimes I am not sure how to let children know that I can’t see very well.
Despite of some difficulties, I am very glad to be here! I like playing with children, especially with those who also have a disability. I feel more comfortable with these children because we have many things in common. It helps me to understand them better because on my own experience I know what it means to be different from others.
I am thankful to my trip leaders for not being afraid to have a blind person on a trip. Also, I would like to say thank you to everyone on this trip. I appreciate that you talk to me and include me into your conversations. For people with special needs it is very important to be accepted as just people.
