Wesley Rankin:
Today was so exciting! Our day started out great, we got to the center and some of us began to set up some of the activities we had for the children, while the others waited for the children to show up! Once children got there, they got to grab some breakfast and then we walked them into the main room they stayed in during the day and we tried getting a dance party going! While some were not impressed with our dancing and singing, some enjoyed it! The kiddos that did not want to dance and sing, colored, played tic-tack-toe, or made bracelets! Once most of the kids arrived, we all moved into the gym and ran an obstacle course! They all really enjoyed it and cheered each other on! It was so much fun getting to watch the children really enjoying themselves and being active. As the day progressed, the children enjoyed all the activities we had planned for them like playing soccer and basketball, getting to play on the playground outside, and painting! Then lunch time came and the kids got extremely excited for their lunch. After lunch we did an ending reflection activity that I thought went over really well. The kids got in a circle and then went around and tapped people that made them laugh or smile. I really enjoyed that activity because it really made the kids feel good about themselves and even us, the students. Over the past two days, I have learned and experienced so much. I am beyond grateful and humbled by this trip. Getting to work with these children has impacted my life for the better. I am so thankful for getting to go on this trip.
