Feel the Power of Being Able to Help Others
Today, we got up very early and went to one of the food distribution places. We sorted out food into bags and handed them to people in need. Each of their smiles was just like a rose, fire, and light which refreshed me, warmed me and lit me up. Their smile reminded me of a short story I had read before.
A family lived a really hard life and were not sure what they were going to eat tomorrow. Then, one day the son of the family came home after school and wore a deep, sorrow face. He told his father that the school asked each student to donate to poor people. The son was so sad, however, his father relieved his son by saying: “Hi, don’t worry about that, we are not poor, see, we still have one bottle of jam to help others.” Actually, that was the only food they had left. The story was impressive to me. The father lied to his son but sow a seed in his son’s heart, lit a light in his son’s heart, which felt happy and proud because you were still able to help others.
Today, I was so happy, too. I am able to serve others, smile to them and receive more smiles. Wow, how wonderful is it that I received so many roses of smiley faces today.
