A chronicle of Missouri State immersion service trips

Chicago: Global Paths Converge

What are you learning from others on the trip?

On this Immersion Trip, I have discovered just how unique every person in our world is. We are halfway through our journey, and I already feel as if I have gleaned so many valuable insights from the friendships I have formed. We have students from Kazakhstan, Egypt, China, Jordan, and the United States. Aside from the learning about one another’s cultures, I have noticed the differences in how we each interpret what we see and hear.

In this regard, our reflection at the end of each day is very important. Not only do we learn from serving, we learn from one another. During this trip, I have learned how to make hotpot, a traditional Chinese meal. I have experienced an Arabian cafe and music. We have had many laughs already and the trip has been very enjoyable. Meeting new people shouldn’t be the only reason you take a Bear Break but it is one of the greatest benefits of the experience.
