This is my second time being in New Orleans to serve the people that were affected by Katrina. My first time I went to New Orleans I was a sophomore in high school. I helped build houses for people whose houses were destroyed by Katrina. During that trip, I learned that people were still affected by Katrina, even though it has been years since it happened. Flash forward four years, and I am back in New Orleans wanting to serve the people that were affected. However, this time I am serving the people in a different way. I have learned more about New Orleans than I can imagine. I learned that New Orleans isn’t fixed. There are still some things that need to be worked on. I learned that the people here are hard working and not willing to give up. They have a passion for New Orleans. It’s refreshing to see people who are so passionate about something.
