You would never think how much a blizzard can effect a hospital, like a children’s hospital in Colorado. The time I have spent in the hospital so far is incredible and the experience is life changing. This hospital runs on volunteers, which is something you do not ever see in other hospitals. When a blizzard hits and you have no volunteers that can come in though, what does that leave? A place with little ability to give it the joy that it gets on a normal day. Kids are left alone with no way for their family to come see them, appointments are canceled due to driving conditions, and kiddos that aren’t feeling well have to wait another day to get the treatment they need, it is just horrible. I wish there was something we could have done to help them, but we were stuck too, unable to leave.
On a side note, we experienced a blizzard like no other. There was so much snow that you would never see in Missouri. I spent most of my day staring out a huge window that you can usually see the mountain range from, there was no mountain range visible during the blizzard, but that because there was just so much snow. Then sometimes I would go out and see how deep the snow is using the PSU bear statue. We watched as more and more snow came down. When the 75 mile an hour wind died down, we went sledding, which didn’t last too long because we were all freezing, but it was definitely an experience I will not forget!
