To comply with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, commonly called the Affordable Care Act,  and provide you with an easy-to-understand summary about your Missouri State University medical plan’s benefits and coverage, we are issuing the Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) and the Uniform Glossary.  These forms are located at http://www.missouristate.edu/human/146543.htm. These are designed to help you better understand and evaluate your health insurance choices.  If you also have insurance from another employer/provider, you will also receive the same SBC format that includes “coverage examples” which will make it easier for you to compare plans.  The coverage examples give a general sense on how normal delivery of a baby and services to control Type 2 diabetes would be covered.  The Uniform Glossary includes commonly used health insurance coverage terms which can sometimes be confusing, e.g., deductible, copayment, coinsurance. Thus, it may be beneficial in understanding this notice.
