There is a possibility UPS will go on strike Aug. 1. Postal services is taking steps to prepare for that if it happens. We do not know what it will look like yet. It is best to avoid using UPS temporarily so your packages do not get caught up in delays due to the strike.
This will be a good time to start sending your packages to Postal Services via campus mail with all of the details for the mail piece so we can process it in postal services to ship by USPS. If you include your email in the package details, we will send you the tracking number. You will still need to prepare a customs form for any international packages.
If you use UPS CampusShip, UPS pickup on campus may be suspended and/or delayed so you may need to drop your package off directly to a UPS drop off location. Our UPS contract number is #2056E5. You can find local UPS locations at this website.
We do not have a pick up for FedEx. If you decide to use FedEx, you will need to drop off your package at a FedEx drop off location. We do not have any pickup locations on campus or a contract number for FedEx. You can find local FedEx locations at this website.
Since USPS and FedEx will be taking on packages that would have gone UPS, plan ahead and expect delays if the strike happens.
For those not located on the Springfield campus, please make necessary arrangements for your packages. Contact postal services (7-2322) if you have questions about your options.
