Position Overview: Supply Chain/Operations Internship (Summer 2026)
Duties and Responsibilities
- The intern will work with the Receiving team to learn the processes and responsibilities involved in receiving and managing products upon arrival.
- Learn how SGC Foodservice manages inventory control using in-house technology is crucial for understanding the organization’s supply chain and logistics.
- Work alongside shipping teams, the intern will gain insights into the end-to-end process of receiving orders, selecting products, and ensuring the correct loading of trucks for timely deliveries.
- Review all Safe Quality Food requirements for SGC and ensure compliance, create ideas to improve processes and give ideas to enhance processes that are nonconformance.
- Spend at least one week riding with route drivers to maximize understanding of selection process and impact that process has on drivers/customers.
- The intern will be assigned a project that requires a formal presentation during the last week of the internship. The flexibility in choosing the format will allow the intern to highlight their creativity and communication skills.
- Apart from the Operations Department, the intern will spend time with other departments such as Purchasing, Transportation, IT, Accounting, Marketing and Sales.

Position Overview: Supply Chain/Transportation Internship (Summer 2026)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Observe the last-mile delivery process, from scheduling and creating the route to participation with a driver on the delivery route, resulting in a comprehensive understanding of how products reach customers safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Forecast inventory needs, the intern will observe and participate in the entire supply chain process from order, receiving inventory control, routing, picking, loading to the last-mile delivery.
- Participate in driver check-ins will provide the intern with knowledge about return processes and how credits are awarded, offering insights into post-delivery procedures and customer service considerations.
- The intern will be assigned a project that requires a formal presentation during the last week of the internship. The flexibility in choosing the format will allow the intern to highlight their creativity and communication skills.
- Apart from the Transportation Department, the intern will spend time with other departments such as IT, Accounting, Purchasing, Marketing and Sales.

Position Overview: Purchasing Internship (Summer 2026)
Duties and Responsibilities
- The intern will work closely with the department head, receiving direct guidance and insight into the department’s daily operations, objectives, and overall goals.
- The intern will work with multiple SGC buyers, gaining exposure to diverse approaches and a well-rounded understanding of the buying process while developing adaptability and critical thinking skills.
- The intern will work on one or two of the following three projects:
Project One: Vendor Conformations – Learn the process of how buyers manage their vendor conformations and then begin completing those daily for 2-3 buyers.
Project Two: Overall vendor profitability analysis – The intern will develop a spreadsheet to track all vendor income sources, including all local income buckets, Unipro income, and freight-generated income. This will involve assembling data from multiple platforms to create a one-line snapshot of overall profitability of SGC vendor lines. - The intern will be given various sets of accurate data, and will be charged with reviewing current purchasing systems, to ensure that accurate data is being displayed. This will involve communication across the SGC broker and vendor communities, as well as data entry inside the SGC internal systems.

Qualifications:
- Full-time student, in good standing at an accredited college/university.
- Actively pursuing a degree, specifically in Supply Chain or a related field.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Proficient with AI platforms.
- Must have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours and be an incoming Junior or Senior for the fall semester.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
- Effective analytical and communication skills.
- Initiative-taker with organizational and disciplinary skills.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with others.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check and substance abuse testing.
Interns work a minimum of 32 hours per week, Monday through Friday, and remain flexible to accommodate occasional evening or overnight shifts. The internship runs for approximately eight weeks from June 1 through July 31 and offers compensation at $20 per hour.
