Missouri State University’s Department of Media, Journalism and Film hosts the 14th annual Manhattan Short Film Festival on Sept. 29 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
Filmgoers in Springfield have the opportunity to unite with audiences in over 250 cities around the world to view and judge the work of both established and up-and-coming filmmakers. Each year, the Manhattan Short Film Festival selects 10 films as finalists from a pool of entries. This year countries such as Norway, the Netherlands, France, Romania, Russia, Britain, Spain, Peru, Ireland, and the United States are represented in the finals. Each film is under 18 minutes in duration.
Those who attend the screening have the opportunity to vote for the winner of the festival. Votes are tallied at each participating cinema and submitted to festival headquarters. On Sunday, Oct. 2 filmgoers can view the voting results online at www.manhattanshort.com.
Admission to the event is $10 per person. A portion of each ticket benefits the Digital Film Production scholarship at Missouri State University.
Parking is available in Lot 24 (access off of National Ave, one block south of Grand Street) or in the Bear Park North garage, located next to the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts.
