We have many upcoming professional development opportunities for MJF majors and prospective majors.
First, if you are interested in a career in media, consider attending the Ozarks Public Broadcasting career fair. The fair is on Friday, Sept. 14 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Strong Hall room 115. You’ll have the opportunity to tour the television and radio facilities of Ozarks Public Television and KSMU Radio Network. You’ll also have the opportunity to network with professionals in journalism, marketing, TV production, engineering, special events, and many other fields.
Don’t miss this chance to enhance your resume and interview skills.
Second, all MJF majors and prospective majors should attend the university’s Majors Fair. The fair is on Thursday, Sept. 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Plaster Student Union Ballroom. Majors and prospective majors in the department will have the chance to interact with faculty and staff, explore their academic options, and gather information in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Come visit the MJF table!
Finally, all undergraduate and graduate students have the opportunity to join the Broadcast Education Association at no cost. The Broadcast Education Association provides students with scholarship opportunities and various competitions throughout the year. Students will also receive information about internships and special offers from a variety of Broadcast Education Association partner organizations. Members will also be eligible for the member discount rate to attend BEA’s annual convention and the NAB show in Las Vegas.
Interested students should visit http://www.beaweb.org/pdfs/frestudentsignups.pdf and use the discount code Instu-55 on the online form to receive their free BEA student membership.
