Bunnies and comedians
Remember “Epilogue“? MSU’s web series that has won a ton of awards? Well, now we introduce “A Little Help,” a short series about aspiring comedian, Ringo, who wants to spread his wings and fly from the nest. This proves difficult when his hippie parents throw him a going away party, landing them all in a most unusual place. On top of that, his best friend Lenny cares more about a rabbit than him, his sister Lisa spends her time shopping for sperm, and the girl of his dreams, Beth, spends all her time working or studying. Will Ringo ever get to leave?
The pitch

What’s next
Here’s the catch. “A Little Help” needs a little help from students, alumni, faculty and staff to make this production a success. The production has set their fundraising goal at $5,000 and has until February 20 to reach this goal.
So how can you help? Come out to “A Little Help” Fundraising Casino Night at 6 p.m. March 7. Hor d’oeuvres will be served, with games of blackjack, Texas Hold ‘Em and more running from 7-9 p.m. The event is a $35 donation at the door or a $30 donation in advance. For more information, see the event flyer.
What they need and what you get
If casino nights aren’t your thing, there are plenty of ways to help out “A Little Help.” Monetary donations help provide the team with the necessities for this type of production. This includes, but is not limited to: props, set dressing, costumes, catering, animation consultations and don’t forget, bunnies!
New perks for supporting the production are added every week and can be found on “A Little Help’s” Indiegogo site.
The impact
This project is a critical learning experience for many students at MSU. It gives them a chance to work on a larger production than most college-level students are used to.
The previous web series produced by the media, journalism and film department, “Epilogue” gained awards and noteworthy recognition from:
- Academy of Television Arts and Science Foundation – College Emmy
- Broadcast Education Association – Award of Excellence
- The Telly Awards
- International Academy of Web Television Awards
- LA Web Series Festival 2013
- Missouri Broadcast Educators Association
Keep in mind, this success could not have been possible if the previous production had not reached it’s fundraising goals.
