Assistant professor Bobby T. Lewis‘s short film, Róisín Dubh, has been accepted into the Kerry Film Festival in Ireland.
Lewis co-produced and shot the film, which stars accomplished Irish actors Tim Murphy and Marie Mullen.
The unique documentary style of the short is something that particularly interested Lewis.
Says Lewis, “I had worked with the director (Sarah-Jane Drummey) before in a similar capacity on another film (Good Fight), and it was a great experience. I love shooting documentary style with a handheld camera, capturing spontaneous moments, and Sarah-Jane has always embraced that approach. She likes to cast professional actors with non-actors and shoot in real locations, which gives me a lot of freedom in how things are captured.”
The film was shot in Los Angeles and Lewis notes that “Shooting under the stars in a California desert is something I’ll always remember.”
The internationally recognized Kerry Film Festival runs from October 7-21.
