Congratulations to the team at The Standard. Missouri State’s student-run newspaper received four awards at the 2018 National College Media Convention.

Awards recognition

• Standard reporter Chloe Skaar won fifth place for Four-Year College Reporter of the Year, presented by Associated Collegiate Press. Skaar graduated in May 2018 and now works for The Daily News in Longview, Washington.
• The Standard won fourth place in the Weekly Newspaper Best of Show category, presented by Associated Collegiate Press. To adjudicate this competition, a judge evaluated a single issue of each newspaper.
• In College Media Association’s Pinnacle Awards, The Standard won first place for Best Ad Campaign.
• In the Associated Collegiate Press Advertisement of the Year competition, The Standard’s Tessa Phongsavath received an honorable mention for Best Rate Card (a publication used to provide information to potential advertisers).
