The School of Nursing is pleased to welcome Dr. Stephen Stapleton to Missouri State University as the new Director of the School of Nursing. Dr. Stapleton will assume the position this month as Dr. Kathryn Hope officially retires after nearly 20 years of service.
Dr. Stapleton earned his doctoral degree from the University of Illinois College of Nursing in 2010 after 28 years working as a staff nurse/manager in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Operating Room. He also has extensive experience in the field of academia as a Professor and Research Specialist.
“My philosophy of leadership and administration is one of service and advocacy. Specifically, I value leadership that prioritizes the interests of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the institution. Collaboration and consensus are important and I value the collective decisions that best serve our constituents. I am committed to working with the students, faculty, other directors, and the Deans along with the university administrators and staff to enrich the lives of all, while together we build a stronger organization and strive to sustain a just and inclusive environment.”
We are pleased to welcome our newest Bear, Dr. Stapleton, to Missouri State University and extend our sincerest congratulations and appreciation to Dr. Kathryn Hope for all of her years of service.
