Jake Swett is being featured for his ethical leadership with Student Government Association (SGA). Jacob is a senior majoring in Physics, Applied Mathematics, and German. He is the Student Body President of Missouri State and a member of several student organizations on campus. Once becoming involved with the Student Government Association, Jake immediately took an active role in various projects. As a member of the 2008-2009 Academic Affairs Committee, Jake worked with the university to implement an Astrophysics major. Due to his hard work and dedication, Jake was awarded the “Newcomer of the Year” award by the Hodges/Paul administration. That year, Jake was also a finalist for the open Student Governor position.During the 2009-2010 Senate session, Jacob returned to the Academic Affairs Committee where he pushed for initiatives such as increased grade awareness and plus/minus standardization. Jake was also a member of the Campus Judicial Board Nominating Committee which was charged with nominating students to serve on the CJB. In spring 2010, Jake was selected to serve as the student representative of the Presidential Search Committee. Through this committee, Jake provided a student perspective in the selection process of the university’s next president. On May 4th, 2010, Jake was sworn in as the Student Body President.
