Public Affairs Student Spotlight

Sarah Crain

Psychology

Sarah Crain is passionate about mental health awareness, education and advocacy. A Psychology major, and current student president of MSU’s NAMI on Campus – National Alliance on Mental Illness, Sarah got involved early during her freshman year.  She has helped with organizational finances, facilitated group meetings, led educational events and organized advocacy efforts to help raise awareness for mental health issues. Collaborating with the local NAMI chapter, she even led a group of students to the Capitol in Jefferson City to advocate for proper mental health legislation.

To ensure the student perspective, Sarah also serves on the Impact Summit Advisory Committee – MSU’s regional college student mental health conference. She will be speaking on the Student Experience panel where students will share their personal struggles and triumphs while dealing with mental health issues in a collegiate setting.  Having a heart for mental health issues, Sarah is finding various ways to help raise awareness, fight stigma and encourage understanding of the mental health issues facing our campus, our community and our country.  Congratulations Sarah as April’s Student Public Affairs Spotlight!
