I recently visited Tracy Glasessgen’s GEP 101 class, and her students had some excellent questions about finances. One question I was asked completely stumped me: “What is the average income for students in college?” It’s a tough question to answer. Some students work full time while in college, others may participate in the work-study program. Still others might not have an income at all. It varies so much that I was unable to find any reliable studies online with an answer. However, I did find some interesting information regarding how college is paid for (http://www.insidehighered.com/news/2008/08/20/pay)
Also, the average starting salary for a college graduate in 2009 was $49,307 (Campus Grotto). Please visit www.missourieconomy.org to find your specific career’s average entry level salary.
