Clery Timely Warning Notice – Robbery

The Springfield Police Department is investigating a report of robbery that occurred on campus. The incident occurred at 1:20 a.m. on Sunday, December 8, on the lawn on the south east corner of Elm and Kimbrough. Two students were walking through the area, when a suspect appeared from an unknown direction and hit one of the students multiple times. A second suspect then displayed a firearm and demanded the student’s wallet. The victim and the other student fled east on Elm Street and reported the incident to a Springfield Police Officer driving on Elm Street. The suspects fled south on Kimbrough.

The first suspect is described as white male, in his 20’s, 6’2” tall, thin build, clean shaven, wearing black clothing, and a black baseball hat.  The second suspect is described as a white male in his 20’s, 5’8” tall, thin build, wearing a black hoodie, thick eye brows, brown hair.

If you have any information concerning this incident, you are encouraged to contact the Springfield Police Department at (417) 864-1810 or 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.

Clery Timely Warning Notice – Robbery

The Springfield Police Department is investigating a report of robbery that occurred on campus. The incident occurred at 12:05 a.m. on Friday, December 6, on the sidewalk on Cherry Street south of Juanita K Hammons Hall. Two suspects approached the victim and demanded the victim’s wallet and threatened the victim. The victim gave the suspects his wallet and the suspects departed north. A weapon was not displayed.

The first suspect is described as a white male, 20-25 years old, thin build, 5’11”to 6’ tall,  wearing dark clothing and a gray stocking cap and the second suspect is described as a white male, 20-25 years old, thin build 5’7” to 5’10” tall, wearing a dark shirt, light colored pants, and a dark stocking cap.

Reported Motor Vehicle Theft

On October 29, 2019, a student reported that their vehicle was broken into and that the ignition was tampered with while parked in Bear Park North, located west of Juanita K Hammons Hall. The vehicle was locked when it was parked on October 29, 2019.

On October 22, 2019, a Missouri State University student reported a motor vehicle theft. The student reported the vehicle was locked in Lot 31, located east of Juanita K Hammons Hall, on October 18, 2019. They returned to their vehicle on the afternoon of October 22, 2019 and found the vehicle missing.

These incidents are being investigated by the Springfield Police Department.

Reported Motor Vehicle Theft

On May 21, 2019, a Missouri State University employee reported a motor vehicle theft. The employee reported that the vehicle was left overnight in Lot 8, which is on the west side of Greenwood School. The employee returned to their vehicle this morning and found the vehicle missing.

Last week, a vehicle was stolen from parking lot 29, which is located at the corner of National Avenue and Bear Boulevard.

These incidents are being investigated by the Springfield Police Department.

Reported Aggravated Assault

At 4:45 p.m. this afternoon, an individual interrupted two suspects breaking into his vehicle. The incident occurred at Bear Park South at the corner of Grand Street and Holland Avenue. The individual confronted the suspects and they threatened him with a knife. The  individual fled the area and was briefly pursued by the suspects.

The suspects continued out of Bear Park south and headed south on Holland away from campus.

Suspect one is described as a white male wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, about 6 feet tall and average build.

Suspect two is described as a white male wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans, average build and brownish/red facial hair.

The Springfield Police Department responded to the incident and is currently in the area investigating.

  • If you see someone in or around your vehicle, do not approach. Call 9-1-1.
  • If you see this individual, stay away and contact the Springfield Police at 9-1-1.
