Happy Valentine’s Day! We wish you a lovely day full of your favorite treats! Take a moment to see what’s going on in the Division of Student Affairs this week!
Assistant Director of Aquatics & Risk Management for Campus Recreation Forum – Student Affairs is happy to announce two candidates that will be interviewing for the position of Assistant Director of Aquatics & Risk Management for Campus Recreation. Each candidate will give a presentation at an open forum on the topic: In a national assessment conducted in 2014, data showed that, on average, 62% of students never utilize the aquatic center on their campus. This data point is concerning to administrators as most aquatic centers on college campuses are the largest facility, require the most funds for maintenance and supplies, and require the most training for student staff to keep patrons safe. The Department of Campus Recreation at Missouri State University is looking for innovative ideas and fresh concepts on how to better engage our campus and community.
Candidate Zack Kelley – Wednesday, February 16th from 9:00am – 9:45am – Via Zoom https://missouristate.zoom.us/j/97057948135
Candidate Rebecca Bastuga – Thursday, February 17th from 9:00am – 9:45am – Via Zoom https://missouristate.zoom.us/j/98104995282
Encourage your Students to apply for this Peer Leader Opportunity – First-Year Programs wants to share their Peer Leadership opportunity. Peer Leaders are students who partner with a GEP 101 instructor to offer additional support to our first-year students. Plus, as a Peer Leader, you will have multiple opportunities to develop your leadership skills. If you are interested in serving first-year students by helping them with their transition to university life, I encourage you to attend an information session below and/or review the attached materials and/or visit our website. These information sessions are optional, and you do not need to attend in order to apply to be a Peer Leader. https://www.missouristate.edu/firstyearprograms/peer-leadership-recruitment.htm
Encourage your students to apply to be an Ursa Major – Ursa Majors help transition incoming students attending the Ursa Experience into Missouri State University and show them how to make their Missouri Statement. Current student leaders, called Ursa Majors, facilitate small groups of Ursa Minors and represent Missouri State to 200 incoming Bears. As an Ursa Major, you will have a blast while you build friendships with new students and fellow student leaders, mentor new Missouri State students, explore your personal strengths and leadership skills, and so much more!
