Today has probably been my favorite day of the trip so far. This morning we visited the Samutprakarn crocodile farm and zoo. We saw an elephant show and a crocodile show, and I got to feed a baby tiger! The elephant show was amazing, the way they treated the animals was so gentle and respectful. But the crocodile show put a pit in my stomach because they were poking at the animals and provoking them – I guess it’s just another cultural difference.
This afternoon we took a Thai cooking class at a local cooking school called Silom, and I learned so much! We made Pad Thai and spicy chicken with sticky rice and a gelatinized turnip in coconut milk. It was all so delicious, and they sent us home with a recipe book that I can’t wait to try out. Tomorrow we’re up early for the tiger temple, so I’m off to bed.
