Vietnam: Expectations

March 24, 2014 by Kristina Lor

I’m expecting to have an extraordinary experience in Vietnam.  I know the culture will be very different, and I’ve talked about food before.  The modes of transportation also is very different, they mainly ride scooters instead of cars (as in the example that Crystal blogged before).

I have heard from a friend that people there are more cautious and to be wary of petty crimes like purse snatching, therefore I’m considering getting a fanny pack (no matter how unfashionable that looks, it’s better to be safe than sorry).

Vietnam is still a developing country so we will probably see poverty mixed in with the city and streets will not be very easy to navigate.

There are so many things to consider in thinking about Vietnam and my expectations; however, I’ll end this post with language.  I know there will be a big language barrier.  This is something I feel we should try to prepare diligently, at least a few important phrases so we’re not completely lost.
