We had an early flight to Hue today. When we arrived, our tour guide picked us up and checked into our hotel. After we checked in, we were taken to a yummy lunch. In Hue, they tend to use a lot of lemongrass in their dishes. They are also sweeter than the dishes in Ho Chi Minh.
We stopped at the Imperial Palace after lunch. Our tour guide gave us a lot of information about the emperors and how they lead Vietnam. We found out that Ms. Pham is a descendent of Emperor Khai Dihn. So it was cool to see a little bit of her history in our trip.
We made our last monument of the day the Buddhist Pagoda. There was a little bit of a history lesson there as well. We saw the car that delivered the Buddhist monk that burned himself alive in religious protest during the 1960’s. It is a very sombering feeling to know what happened and be at his place of worship.
We left the pagoda on a boat. We traveled down the Perfume River, or Huong River. A short nap, and we were off to dinner. After dinner we got back on a boat and had a little show of more traditional Vietnamese songs.
The day flew by!
