We left Hue and boarded a plane to Nha Trang. Nha Trang is south of Ho Chi Minh and is one of the most beautiful resort places in Vietnam. The ocean breeze cooled the atmosphere so it has been the coolest in terms of temperature since we got here. The first thing we did was have lunch at a beautiful scenic restaurant. Nha Trang is well known for its sea food and beaches such as Diamond Bay. After lunch we settled down to the hotel and then departed to four different locations. The first was Chong aka the Husband rock. The Vietnamese had a legend where a giant left its handprint on the boulder.
The next location was Ponagar temple. It is a temple dedicated to one of the most sacred goddess. The temple was built by the Champas, who were the people residing in the area before the Vietnamese took over. They are well known for their special clay and pottery.
Then we headed to the giant buddha statue that was built in 1963, in honor of the monks who buried themselves alive to protest against Diem and his animosity against Buddhism.
The last location was Mountain/Stone Church which was built by the French. It had beautiful statues all around the vicidinty.
After sightseeing, we took a cyclo ride around a couple blocks. It was kinda fun but the ride was very slow. We ended the night with shopping at the night market. Tomorrow we will be heading to Mune, a similiar city like Nha Trang but smaller in size.
