As the new quarter starts, we start preparing again for the study tour trip this May. This time, we will be staying a week in Vietnam and a week in Myanmar for a trip total of two weeks. Some things that I’m looking forward to is seeing my friends again from STU in Saigon, Vn as well as exploring a new country. I’ve seen beautiful pictures of the Buddhist temples in Myanmar and their amazing floating gardens/markets.
However, some things that I worry about is that since Myanmar is less developed than Vietnam, if one of us gets sick from food or allergic reaction to the environment, it may be hard to treat. It just shows how important it is to be prepared especially with a larger group going this time.
One of the things that I am doing to prepare for this trip is to try and learn local Vietnamese/Myanmar phrases. Language is part of the culture so learning the language is just as important as learning about the facts of the culture.
I’m looking forward to another great trip to South East Asia with this year’s group. Not only will we be having an amazing time, but we will be learning a lot about the international marketing scene in both countries.
