Travel:
There are still 5 hours left on this flight and I’m hoping it goes by fast. We have already traveled a little over 8 hours. I have been in and out of sleep for most of it, much like everyone else on the plane. My body is very confused about what it should be doing. Should I be sleeping? Should I be awake? I know in Taipei it is midnight but I just slept for 6ish hours so it does not feel right to go back to sleep. I have a feeling it is going to be like this for some time, not knowing what to do. I think I’m just going to try to sleep when there is time and any other time just keep pushing through. After all of this sitting, walking around the streets if Vietnam and exploring a new country sounds perfect, I am getting more and more excited the closer we get.
It was nice to get to know my fellow travelers a bit at the airport and on the flights. Turns out sitting in line and layovers are a great time to make conversation. And meet some interesting people. In Dallas we listened to a family sing and play a string instrument for 45 minutes in the terminal. It was nice for the first 5-10 minutes, the daughters were good singers, but after awhile it got a bit annoying. I also met a nice women on the flight from DFW to LAX, or should I say after the flight. Her and I both had to wait for everyone to get off of the plane so we could retrieve our luggage from the overhead bins…in the very back of the plane.
Day 1:
The first day was very laid back and allowed time to get to know more about this new culture. Seeing the streets and scooters were terrifying, especially when in a car. I don’t think I have ever seen that many scooters in my life. Following a delicious lunch we went to get massages; they felt amazing. The women giving the massages would laugh every time my back popped, which was a lot so I’m glad they enjoyed it as much as I did.
I don’t remember much of dinner because traveling for 36 hours and being in a different time zone leaves a person very exhausted. I remember that it was street style food and I’m pretty sure mine was good. I ended up calling it a night at 7:45 and going to bed. It has never felt better to go to sleep in my life.
