Day 3:
The morning started off with breakfast on the 13th floor, like every other morning. The view was spectacular ad usual, and the coffee magnificently strong. The first adventure of the day stared with taking a taxi to the Ben Thanh market. Within in seconds of stepping out of the taxi, we were surrounded by women selling fans and lottery tickets. Trying not to be rude, I politely said no and turned around. After trial and error I realized that keeping my head down, not making eye contact, and ignoring the vendors was the best way to get them to move on to another potential customer. Finally we made it to the entrance to the market. As I walked in, I was surrounded by beautiful, vibrant colors and fabric all around. To pass from one part of the market to another, we had to walk through aisles of vendors. They would target us, because we looked like tourists, and try to hand us things to buy; it was slightly overwhelming at first. As the time went on and we walked through more aisles, I leaned to apply the same techniques as I did with the vendors outside. I looked at a few booths, but ended up not buying anything on this trip. We are going back later in the week. We were lucky that some of the friends we have made here came to the market with us and helped us bargain with the vendors.
That afternoon we set off on the drive to Can Tho-5 hours. Upon our arrival, we headed to the hotel. The hotel was the first 5 star hotel in Can Tho and had only been open a few weeks, it was a fun experience. the day ended with a lovely dinner and singing.
