Day 8:
As the morning sun welcomed us to our first full day in Myanmar, it finally set in how amazing it is to be in this country. This country has been closed off for so many years, yet here we are. The morning was spent at a magnificent Buddhist pagoda. The gold and white glistened in the sun and Kristina, Chance, and I made our way to the Dragon/Saturday corner to make our offerings (based on the day we were born). We placed the flowers on the shrine and I placed 19 cups of water on it due to my age. I made my wish and then prayed to Buddha. The pagoda was peaceful and allowed for me to meditate and connect with my Buddhist beliefs.
After this, we had lunch and headed to Royal Haskoning. We learned a lot about what it takes to build a business in a developing economy. I was still slightly confused with some of the business talk, but the main ideas I understood. We also experienced our first power outage while we were here. It was weird to see how common it seemed for everyone. We turned on our flashlights on our phone and got back to business, like nothing had happened.
It was off to bed early because we have an early flight in the morning.
