In the early morning, we caught the flight to go to Bagan, which is the city famous for its pagodas.
First stop in Bagan, we visited the Nyaung U market. I didn’t quite understand what was the special reason for people to come visit this market. It was just like the market in the countryside of my hometown, but the impression of the countryside of my hometown was not very distinct because I have been away from home for a long time. Maybe just me felt this way because I have experienced this kind of things.
Then we visited three typical pagodas: Shwezigon, Thatbyitnnnyu, Gubyaukgyi and Dhamagyi. I remember there was one Buddha was smiling when we were far. He stopped smiling when we got closer. All of those Buddhas have female bodies though they are all male. In their culture, female bodies were considered to be better then male bodies. Different postures of Buddhas have different meanings. There were several Buddhas stolen by invaders, so what we saw were replacements.
Around 6 p.m., we went to Pyat That Gyi pagoda that we can actually go up and look down. We saw the beautiful sunset on the terrace of the pagoda.
